Starting January 14, 2026, Tyler Tech is updating the Chase web payment process. This change improves fraud mitigation through enhanced ZIP code validation and introduces unique payment confirmation numbering. This phased roll out will last approximately two weeks, and you may see these changes at any point during that period. Point-of-sale or in-person payments are not affected by this change.
ZIP code validation
Tyler Payments now validates the ZIP code a payer enters during checkout against the code stored by the card-issuing financial institution. An incorrectly entered code causes a decline message to be shown. Since the ZIP code has not always been validated, payers
who previously stored a credit card or are entering a new card for a one-time payment may experience a transaction decline if the code they entered does not exactly match the code stored by the card-issuing institution.
Transaction declines related to ZIP code validation will increase in Tyler Payments following this change, but only in scenarios where payers enter incorrect code information. Payers should be advised to retry the payment and re-enter code details or update stored card information to reflect correct ZIP codes. No Tyler Payments system issues are expected as a result of this change.
Confirmation numbers
The format of confirmation numbers changed to a string of four letters followed by eight numbers (TYLX-########). Each transaction, such as a payment or refund, is now assigned a unique number.
